Hi, I'm Maria
I work as a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Madrid, Spain.
Several years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of living abroad.
Origins of the Move
Moving to Spain wasn’t in the long-range plan. Like many relocations for expatriates, it started as a work opportunity and soon grew into something far larger.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complex than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, met other families, and began building something that felt stable.
Why I Built Silent Meadow Stone
The majority of online information was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a genuine, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Spain.
What This Website Is About (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when there is a real change
This site isn't:
- A tourism bureau resource
- Endorsed review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Spain continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep recording what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Maria
